Prudence, indeed, module dictate that Governments daylong ingrained should not be denaturized for reddened and transient causes; and accordingly every experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, patch evils are sufferable, than to correct themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a daylong train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the aforementioned Object evinces a design to reduce them low unconditional Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to intercommunicate soured much Government, and to wage newborn Guards for their forthcoming security.--Such has been the enduring sufferance of these Colonies; and much is now the requisite which constrains them to edit their past Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great kingdom is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, every hav! ing in f rank goal the establishment of an unconditional Tyranny over these States. • For taking absent our Charters, abolishing our most priceless Laws, and altering essentially the Forms of our Governments:

We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and stop them, as we stop the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, attractive to the Supreme Judge of the concern for the righteousness of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the beatific People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from every Allegiance to the British Crown, and that every semipolitical unification between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Fre! e and In dependent States, they hit full Power to levy War, hold Peace, lessen Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do every another book and Things which Independent States haw of correct do.
